Pylon is an interactive acoustic sound sculpture formed of a pair of aluminium conical structures suspended in scaffolding towers, positioned opposite each other some distance apart. Speaking quietly into the brass funnel on one side, the corresponding user will hear clearly listening into the brass funnel of the other structure – a phenomena similar to a tin can ‘telephone’ or the Denge sound mirrors. Pylon amplifies and channels the user’s voice and the sounds of the surroundings, an invitation to all ages to discover their own voice, another’s voice, and the voice of a landscape.
